I think I will have to skip this one. May 22 is a big day in Montreal. That day, the student will be 100 days into a strike. There's a big protest planned. A bit of context: March 22 saw nearly 300,000 students and supporters walking in support of the strike (more than half the students were on strike that day); April 22 was Earth Day where another 250,000 walked out, and next Tuesday is in the same '22' tradition, so a lot of people will be out there. It will be an anti-government walk. The walk is in the afternoon, but will be followed by events. I'm already committed up to the end of the day, where we will likely finish the day in a local waterhole. As much as I usually cancel everything for WPO, this will be a special day. I don't think I could rush back in time. In fact I have to stay out there with my friends and people, because the situation will command it.
For those of you who may not follow what is happening in our little province, today the Quebec government voted law 78, a special law, an anti-protest law - ironically the very same day Putin, in Russia, enacted his own anti-protest law - which gives huge fines to protester, just about forbid protest (making it hard to plan), and which condemn even 'incitations' to protest, that is, specifically, tweets, facebooks status, etc.
I'm FB friend with Pedal, and he suffered through many posts of mine about this strike, and the degeneration of the situation. Today, the Liberal Party of Quebec voted laws that will go down in history as fascist laws. It's very weird to see this happening in our own quiet province. The Barreau (the organization representing the lawyers, the judges, in sum the Law professional) denounced this law, like the teachers, the Union, just about anyone else except for some hardcore 'law and order' fascist.
For game purpose, Pedal could replace me, if he can be there.
